I came to the stage, unprepared,
in an epic play stretching through time.
Learnt my parts as the script unwound,
parts of which I helped to write.
I donned my robes and played my parts,
then discarded them, and moved on.
But sometimes left behind my heart,
which yearned, and refused to depart.
I missed my heart, which was elsewhere,
but had to act to script's demands.
Those were times I couldn't give my all.
Not whole, I didn't enjoy the parts!
Then there were times when I just danced,
and flowed to the beat of the music -
times when the music filled my heart
which was one with me, and I rejoiced!
